About me
I'm Sekwar, a multimedia artist and former musician. For a decade I consistently posted my art online, hopping from site to site until Cohost announced their shutdown and thwarted my progress. I used to make mostly fandom art but as of 2024 I've ceased all public fandom related activity to focus mostly on original work. Over the years, my art style has become increasingly experimental, in part due to a series of epiphanies and revelations I experienced starting in 2021.
My main interests lie in the contemporary art world in general, particularly indie comics. I don't really follow any series, but I'm going through my TCAF haul and I'm having a great time doing it!
Unlike other people making websites, I never really grew up on the old web. I didn't spend my time on forums or looking at shrines and webrings, I was more occupied with playing games on Miniclip and watching Rube Goldberg machines on YouTube, which is a pretty chill combination. I can't really call myself a webmaster, because I resented web design in college, and HTML isn't something I'm particularly good at. I'm just a simple artist who wants to put their stuff out for cool people to see! This website is just the next step in that journey.
Oh what's that you want the real bio? Alright then, I was hoping you would say that...
I'm a chameleon mage who travels across worlds and dimensions and documents all of this in my art! Please, go easy on the colour change requests.
FAQ
Q: Where did the name come from?
A: It's from a song by my favourite band of all time. I thought it sounded mysterious and fantastical, and it's fun to say, so the name stuck. Fun fact: One name I considered was "Qotile", which is the main enemy in the game Yar's Revenge.
Q: Will you add a blog/RSS feed?
A: I'm not sure. I never really saw myself as a blogger; I like to talk more on places like Discord. If I did make another blog, I would have no idea what to write about. It's still up in the air, though.
Q: What instruments did you used to play?
A: I played drums for 18 years.
Q: What are your thoughts on the collapse of the Q'thoomian temples in 2470 B.N. (before Nom)?
A: It's an interesting example of someone having good intentions with their work but deciding the world wasn't ready for it yet. My fascination with this little-known comes from the recent discovery of a clay tablet documenting the moments leading up to the temple's destruction. As someone who was into Mesopotamia for a time, this was something worth reading about.
Q: Do you like cheeeeeeeeeese?
A: Hell yeah I like cheese.
Q: What kind of cheeeeeeese do you like?
A: I like good-ass cheese (gouda, cheddar, mozzarella, gruyere, parmesan).
Q: Is this website well and truly scuffed?
A: Yes, very yes.
